SLOW DOWN, BREATHE EASY, SAVE MONEY, GET THERE SOONER...A MESSAGE FROM THE GEORGIA CLEAR AIR CAMPAIGN

Haste makes waste
Driving at excessive speeds burns up more gasoline and creates more air pollution.
When you drive at speeds above 60 mph, your vehicle’s fuel efficiency and gas mileage decrease rapidly.
For every 5 mph you drive over 60mph, you could be wasting about 25 cents per gallon of gas. But that wasted gas also puts more pollution into the air, which can create smog.

Speeding gets you nowhere
Speeding causes more traffic accidents, which are a primary cause of congestion.
As much as half of all traffic congestion in areas like metro Atlanta is created from road incidents, including vehicle crashes resulting from speeding.

When you drive too fast, we all pay for it
When you’re caught speeding, you pay the cost of a ticket AND a Super Speeder fee, not to mention the fuel you’re wasting and the likelihood your insurance premiums will go up. But your decision to speed can cost everyone in the form of traffic delays and poor health from exposure to dirty air … or even their lives.
Slow down and drive “greener”
